The idea of the project is to make pen and pencil holder to be put on flat surface.
Using Fusion 360, design the pen and pencil holder so that it consists of multiple 2.5D parts (at least three) and assemble them using proper joints. Fabricate the 2.5D parts using Laser Cutting
Your pen and pencil holder should contain at least 2 compartments to hold different stationary items (For example, a compartment for pens and the other for sticky notes or paper clips)
Select the proper joints that fit your form (T-slot, and/or Bracket with captive nut)

For the design I worked on Fusion 360 to get the design. Then the files are saved as DXF and STL files.

This assignment is prepared from 8 components. Each component has its own properties. All the components are with its dimensions and all dimensions are fully defined. First, I searched for pen holder on the internet and searched for the dimensions. Then, I started to draw the components on a paper to know the dimensions properly and to not get confused.

Bracket design
1)The first joint was between side component and back 2 component.
2) The second joint was between side 2 component and back 2 component
3) The third joint was between side component and front component
4) The top component was draw by projection on the tabs of the sides under it.
5) The top component was joint with back 2 component.
6) Joint was made between split and top components.
7) The joint was made between the hole in the top component and the bracket.
8) The joint was made between bottom and back 2 components.
9) Bracket and Back 1 are joined together.
The design needed 3 printed bracket so I put the 3 brackets at the same bed to be printed in the time.
The design is printed with 10% infill, no supports, no adhesion and resolution 0.2mm.
It took 24 minutes and 3g.
I exported the gcode and saved it on the printer's card.
Then on the machine I chose 'choose from SD card'.
I selected the file to begin the printing operation.
Brackets on Cura
The sheet didn't fit the whole design so the design is split on two sheets.
The design was supposed to be cut so the lines are black and the speed 30 and power 55.
I saved the files as rd files then I put my flash memory on the machine, the file was selected and the cutting process started.

The first problem faced me in the design is when the component is finished and I wanted to take a copy from it the copies component still linked to the original component.
So I tried another way. I took a copy from the sketch of the component and created new separate component then new sketch in it then I pasted the sketch I copied

Returning to the main project

New sketch in the new component
Pasting the copied sketch in the new
Moving the pasted the copied sketch in the new sketch
The second problem faced me is that I was not sure from the holes of the screws will be aligned with the brackets or not.
I asked the instructor and she told me to make a joint between the bracket and the hole to see if it is aligned or not.
The third problem is that the thickness of the extrude cut affect the places of the screws holes.
Solution was to add the 3mm thickness of the extrude to the 10mm of the bracket.
The right spacing of the hole is:
10mm of the spacing of the bracket
1.5mm of the spacing between the tabs and the edges
3mm of the wood thickness
The total = 1.5+10+3 = 14.5
The space between the edge
of the circle and the
edge of the side
