FAQ

Q: How much does it cost?

A: It's free! You don't need to pay to take part in our activities.

Q: What if I have never done circus before?

A: No problem. You can use our equipment and we will give you an intro tutorial on how to use it. We will be by your side to cheer you on as you discover new moves. Fellow circus practitioners will be around to give you inspiration and advice along the way.

Q: What's a skillshare? Will you teach me how to do circus?

A: Skillsharing means that everyone is a learner and everyone is a teacher. It is a self-led, community-supported way of learning. We train side-by-side (and with one another) and learn from each other along the way.

Q: Can my kid come?

A: For sure! Common Ground Circus is for all ages. Come alone, bring your kid or your grandpa, we are family-friendly.

If your kiddo (or grandpa) requires supervision (if you would not leave them unattended at a park for instance), you will need to remain with them to support their participation. We do not offer a drop-in service.

Q: Is it just a kid thing?

A: No. Common Ground Circus is designed to be age inclusive, but it is not a kid program. It is not a watered-down version of an adult activity. No infantilizing songs and cartoon voices over here (well, unless it is part of a circus routine you are working on). Adults and kids train side by side, at their own pace.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Wear clothes that allow you to move freely and that make you feel confident. Avoid wearing things that can snag or scratch the equipment (or people) such as zippers, belts, buttons, jewelry, etc.

Some specific activities such as areal and partner acro work better with form-fitting clothes (like leggings and bodysuits), but it is not necessary.

Depending on the apparatus, a pair of sports shoes might be handy (and safer).

Q: Are you certified?

A: No. We are not certified, accredited, insured or vetted in any way, shape or form. We do not claim to be experts in our fields and most of us are self-taught. We are a few friends passionate about circus and inviting you to give it a try.
