Hello and welcome to the Saluda Elementary School Library! My name is Meredith Miller-Rikard but around here I am known as ¨the friendly librarian¨. I have been the librarian at Saluda Elementary School for 4 years and before I became the librarian I taught third grade here for 14 years. I love getting to work in the SES library and I hope they will let me stay here forever (or until I die). My goal as the librarian is to help children find their passion for reading while understanding its importance and connection to the wonderful world we live in. I want all of our patrons--students, parents, and teachers--to know that my job is to help you obtain information and resources so that you can succeed. Therefore, I want you to feel free to come to me for any help you might need and together we can find what you are looking for. I want our library to be the heart of our school!
When I am not working as the librarian I enjoy hanging out with my husband, Brandon, and our sons, Inman and Lawson. We love to hunt, fish, camp, and ride our ATVs. They actually love that I am the librarian because they can spend lots of time in the library and they get to preview all of our new books before they are put on the shelves. We are big Pete the Cat fans at the Rikard house!
Please let me know if I can help you with anything that will further your success while at Saluda Elementary School. I would love to get the opportunity to demonstrate why I am the ¨friendly librarian¨!
