About Me

Hi! My name is Mrs. Ackerman, and I a first-grade teacher at Salisbury Elementary School.

📚 My Background & Education

I grew up in Berks County, where I graduated from my high school alma mater, Governor Mifflin. My passion for teaching led me to Bloomsburg University, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2007. To better support my students' literacy skills, I later obtained my Master’s Degree in Education as a Reading Specialist from PennWest University.

🍎 Teaching Experience

This is my 18th year in education, my 8th year within the Salisbury Township School District, and my 3rd year teaching first grade! Over the course of my career, I have loved getting to know students of all ages. My background includes teaching:

• Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th-grade classrooms

• K–4 Reading Intervention

🐾 Outside the Classroom

When I'm not teaching, my husband and I love spending time outdoors in our yard with our dog, Ranger—especially during the warmer months! Some of my favorite hobbies include:

• Going for walks (with Ranger, of course! 🐕)

• Watching movies

• Cross-stitching

• Playing pickleball

My absolute favorite thing to do is read, and historical fiction is always my go-to genre. I can't wait to share my love of learning and reading with your children this year!
