Creative Writing is a semester course. It has the option for dual enrollment through Seton Hall.
The course focuses on various types of writing to explore, but students will choose a preference to explore during the second half of the course. Grades will be based on completion of assignments and fulfillment of self-selected goals. While I expect students to write clearly and honor conventional rules, this is not a major focus of the course. Students are encouraged to try new writing styles, to search for their writers' voices, and to experimentally mimic the styles of established writers.
Types of writings include: narrative, verse, screenwriting, creative non-fiction, and flash fiction.
Students will also read selections from novels, short stories, and other published pieces.
