For the Third quarter we will be doing the following:

Concepts of Small business Ownership - Welcome to small business. We will be working on chapters 1 - 7 for the third and fourth quarter.

Extended learning:

Learning activity #1, 2 and 3: Research a local business in the Lehigh Valley Farmers Market and tell me about them. Who are the owners and how did they start their business? What are the store hours? What are the products they sell? How long have they been in business at the framers market? Do they have other locations?

Learning activity #4 and 5: Look at all the other stands in the farmers market. If you had the opportunity to buy a stand in the farmers market which one would you buy? how would you change it? would you change it? Create a one page ad for your stand. Using your small business skills to attract customers. Activity 1, 2, and 3 have all the information you need to set up your store hours.

Marketing - Welcome to marketing. We will be looking at marketing in the current year. How has marketing changed since technology has become part of our daily life.

Extended learning:

Learning activity #1: watch 5 commercials on tv. 2 in the morning 1 at midday and 2 in the evening. write down the following: Product, target audience, and did it create an interest.

Learning activity #2: find a magazine and look at 3 different ads. answer the following questions: Did the ad capture your attention? What product are they promoting? How would you have created the ad?

Learning activity#3 and #4: Create an ad for a product that you use. It can be a magazine print ad, (short song), or you can create a video (30 seconds or less).

Learning activity #5: You have now created an ad, how long did it take? What were the obstacles you had to overcome? Who will end up being your target audiance? and can you create a larger audiance for your product?

LifeSmarts - Welcome to Lifesmarts. For the third and fourth quarter we will be learning the following: checking accounts, budgets, saving accounts, payroll, and identity theft.
