*FOCUS AREA, NAME, DATE, PERIOD
ASSIGNMENT COMPLETION:
Students are expected to hand assignments in on time or they are late and graded accordingly.
GRADING SYSTEM:
I utilize a point system for grading; it will be comprised of points from tests, quizzes, class/homework assignments, writing assignments, classwork, presentations, and projects. You may view grades on the Sapphire Portal.
PORTFOLIO:
Each student will have an individual writing portfolio. The contents of the portfolio will be decided upon the strengths and interests of the student in consultation with the teacher. Throughout the year students will study their selections in the portfolio and evaluate their progress. A major portfolio assignment is collected twice a year (January and June). All final drafted writing assignments are to be placed in the portfolio throughout the year. If a student fails to complete a writing assignment, they will be required to complete it for the portfolio grade. Major points will be deducted for a late portfolio since this is a long-term assignment in which the students are given an entire week in a “Writing Workshop” to complete as well as the entire semester to work at their own pace. Most likely, this will be the largest grade of the year since it encompasses yearly work, revisions, conferencing time, goal setting and independent work. Keeping your semester writing assignments on a flash drive will allow you to easily revise and reprint for this major grade!!
