The following are camps and programs I’ve attended that, although they may have been one-time events or not part of my regular activities, had a meaningful impact on me and taught me valuable lessons in many areas.
As an elected senator at North Carolina Girls State, I represented my peers in a week-long mock government program designed to cultivate leadership, public service, and civic engagement. During the program, I developed skills in parliamentary procedure and deepened my understanding of local and state government functions. I participated in drafting legislation, debating bills, and conducting elections, experiencing firsthand the legislative process and responsibilities of public office.
I ran my own campaign and supported fellow citizens in theirs, gaining insight into the power of collaboration and the importance of connecting with others, not just being qualified, but making people feel seen and heard. Through public speaking and debate sessions, I honed my ability to communicate ideas clearly, persuasively, and confidently in front of an audience.
Workshops and guest speakers, including state officials and civic leaders, offered valuable lessons in leadership and civic responsibility. Most importantly, I built lasting connections with motivated young women from across the state—relationships that continue to inspire me today. Girls State was a transformative experience that deepened my passion for government, leadership, and service.
Stful rotary leadership program- at The STFU Rotary Youth Leadership Program, I participated in a variety of activities, all rooted in equipping me with essential life and leadership skills. During the program, I engage in interactive workshops, team-building exercises, and group discussions that focus on effective communication, collaboration, goal setting, and problem-solving. We also practice public speaking, learn how to lead with empathy and integrity, and explore the importance of civic responsibility and community service. Through hands-on activities and mentorship from community leaders and Rotary members, I gain greater self-awareness, build confidence, and develop a deeper understanding of what it means to be a responsible and impactful leader. By ranking and self-reflecting on my personal values and pillars of my life. The program also fosters lasting friendships that I know I can reach out to.
