The team of Nick Graden, Mason Dyksterhouse, Geoff Dinu Daniel, and Mikaal Hamid, known as The Saline Saltines, pulled off a clean sweep in week 1 against Dakota High School, and lost a tough match against North Branch in week 2. In week 3, the team gutted out an amazing win over Grandville after dropping the first two games.
The team of Carter Schabel, Braegan Grigg, and Brehima Sissoko, known as the Saline Suspension Snatchers, took a loss in their first week to Swartz Creek, but have bounced back to win back-to-back matches against Manistiee and Kalkaska.
After the break week, our two Rocket League teams came out firing on all cylinders! The Saline Saltines cruised past their opponents from Linden, while the Saline Suspension Snatchers did the same against Manistee. Both teams sit at 4-1, and are a win away from clinching a playoff spot!
In week 6, the Saline Saltines went the distance with the Hudsonville Eagles, who were ranked 6th, in the closest match of the season! The match went all 5 games, 3 of which went to overtime, including the final game! Yet, in OT, it was the Saltines who clinched the victory and pulled themselves up to 6th in the state The Saline Suspension Snatchers took a loss to a tough team from North Branch who handed the Saltines their only loss on the season. Despite this, they only slipped from 13th to 16th in the rankings and have a record of 4-2 and are still in a great spot to make the playoffs.
Week 7 was a huge success! The playoff locked Saline Saltines continued their streak of dominance and swept the second team that they played from North Branch High School, and moved into 5th place in the rankings! The Saline Suspension Snatchers got themselves a new lineup, with staples Braegan Grigg and Carter Schabel welcoming newcomer Alex Liu into the lineup. Alex fit right in, and helped boost the team past the Bulldogs of Grandville High School 3 games to 2! It was another epic back and forth, with the Snatchers coming through in game 5! Well played!
In the final week of the regular sesaon, the Saltines swept a beat up team from Hartland High School, but did so with great sportsmanship and class. They had an opportunity to run up the score, but chose to be humble victors, even earning compliments and praise from the Hartland Coach. We are very proud of the example they set. This victory locked them in as the number 3 seed going into the Playoffs!
The Saline Suspension Snatchers were not as fortunate against North Branch High School, whose teams we have seen many times this season! Regardless, the locked up the 16th seed in the Playoffs and will have an opportunity to beat the best!
In the Playoffs, the Snatchers had a rough go and lost in the first round, while the Saltines made it all the way to the top 8! While both teams fell short of their goal of reaching the State Championships, they both had great seasons and will have another shot in the Spring!
