We are so appreciative of all the support we receive all season from our parents! THANK YOU!
One of the biggest needs is help running smooth meets. There are many volunteer opportunities, and quite a few that require absolutely no knowledge of Track & Field :)
Brief Description of the Volunteer Positions
Finish Line Volunteers (2): Timers are responsible for handing the runners a popsicle stick reflecting their place in said heat.
*BONUS: You get to see the exciting finishes of all the running events and solid efforts of our middle school track athletes!
Zone Judges (3): Volunteers will be responsible for watching an exchange zone during relays. The goal is to watch for legal baton exchanges within the proper exchange zones. Have no fear, zones are of a certain color and well marked.

4x200m red to red triangles
4x400m blue to blue triangles
4x800m blue to blue triangles
*BONUS: You get to help out the team and coaches with a few short moments down on the infield during the short & exciting sprint relays!
Announcer (2): A script is provided with exactly what to say. Your job is to enjoy the bird's eye view and follow along with where we are in the meet.
*BONUS: Indoor comfort at an outdoor meet, and you have the best seat in the house!
Pole Vault Volunteers (3): Two volunteers stand on either side of the bar and help athletes adjust the bar and standards, and replace the bar any time it falls. Another volunteer reads the names off of the vaulters in order and record whether they successfully make it over or not.
*BONUS: You get to watch athletes fly!
High Jump Volunteers (3): Two volunteers stand on either side of the bar and replace it any time it falls. Another volunteer reads the names off of the jumpers in order and record whether they successfully make it over or not.
*BONUS: You get to hang out right by the start of every race and can cheer the runners on while working!
Long Jump Volunteers (4): Two volunteers measure a jumper's distance from board to sand. Another volunteer records the jumper's jump distance and manages the jumpers exiting the long jump pit. A fourth volunteer rakes the sand.
*BONUS: You get to hang out right at the final corner, cheering and encouraging each runner's final 100m!
Shot Put Volunteers (3): Two volunteers working the tape measure; one to mark where the shot lands and the other to read the distance. Another volunteer reads the names of the throwers in order and records the distance of each throw.
*BONUS: You get to be a bit removed from the "organized chaos" of the meet and cheer on the throwers!
Concessions (6): A worker from Food Services will assist and oversee volunteers who will collect money and sell concession items to the athletes and fans throughout the meet.
*BONUS: Indoor shelter in a quiet space with a view of the finish line excitement!
Medal Room (2): This only applies to meets where medals can be won (Hornet Relays). After official results are delivered to the medal room, you will be responsible for making sure that the medals for each race are properly deposited into teach team's bag based on the official results. No track and field knowledge required for this job, just simply follow directions!
