2019 Track & Field

With 150-200 members, the Saline Men's Track and Field program ranks as one of the largest track teams in the nation. This brings great pride to the community but also presents an issue that needs to be addressed. With such a large team the task of replacing uniforms is a constant struggle. The uniform's that we currently use were purchased over 6 years ago. Many uniforms are no longer serviceable.

A second concern is the collection of uniforms at the end of each season, inevitably uniforms fail to be returned as the school year ends so closely to the end of track and field season. This is a major concern when a uniform is not returned it needs to be replaced. Replacing uniforms in this fashion is expensive to the program.

The final concern is that the uniforms we have ordered in the past to replace lost or uniforms that are no longer serviceable are no longer available for purchase. This complicates simply replacing uniforms that get lost or destroyed. Last season several athletes had to wear a uniform that was previously bought in the early 2000’s due to the lack of serviceable current uniforms.

As a program, the coaches and many team members feel that we need to have a uniform that is consistent for the entire team. As a staff, we have talked for the past few years about having athletes buy their own uniforms to compete in and keep each year, similarly to the model we use at the middle school and many programs in the state use. This model allows athletes to have a uniform that fits, is cared for, and kept by them to use over multiple years. Our plan is to stay with the same uniform for at least 4-5 years so that a freshman can buy a uniform once during his time with Saline Track and Field.

THE PLAN:

All New Men's Track & Field Participants need to purchase at a minimum a uniform top. For the Sprinters we have also included a matching pair of shorts that we would like to have the athlete purchase, but it is not mandatory. We have 2 styles of uniform tops and 2 styles of shorts for the athletes to choose from. The different styles can be combined in any fashion. Most DISTANCE athletes love a loose fitting top. SPRINTERS and many FIELD athletes like tops and shorts that are form fitting. WE HAVE BOTH STYLES an athlete can pick either style (or a combination of the 2 styles).

SIZING AND ORDERING A UNIFORM:

DEADLINE TO ORDER FROM THE WEBSITE AND GET YOUR UNIFORM BEFORE THE SEASON BEGINS:

All orders must be submitted by March 15th This date is the last date to order to receive your uniform by the first outdoor meet on April 9th.

SHIPPING NOTE: In order to keep the cost down all Uniforms will be shipped to the school with the individual athletes names attached to ensure each athlete gets what they ordered.
