Dear parents and guardians,
The Board of Trustees waived the community service hours, the attendance rate, and the grade point average requirements for your senior. If you have questions about your student’s progress toward graduation please contact his/her counselor.
Many of you have also asked us about the status of a graduation ceremony. While we want to celebrate our students, we also have to adhere to the guidance of the Monterey County Public Health Officer. However, we are seeking input and ideas and your student will be receiving a survey via their school email so that we can gather input about the various alternatives to a traditional graduation ceremony. Please encourage them to respond to the survey by Friday, April 24th.

Queridos guardianes/tutores,
La mesa directiva decidió que los estudiantes del doceavo grado no tendrán que cumplir con los requisitos de las horas de servicio comunitario, la tasa de asistencia y los requisitos promedio de calificaciones. Si tiene preguntas sobre el progreso de su estudiante en cuanto a la graduación, comuníquese con su consejero.
Muchos de ustedes también nos han preguntado sobre el estado de la ceremonia de graduación. Si bien queremos celebrar a nuestros estudiantes, pero también debemos adherirnos a la guía del Oficial de Salud Pública del Condado de Monterey. Sin embargo, estamos buscando aportes e ideas y su estudiante recibirá una encuesta mediante el correo electrónico de la escuela para que podamos recopilar las sugerencias sobre las diversas alternativas a una ceremonia tradicional de graduación. Por favor anime a su estudiante a responder la encuesta antes del viernes 24 de abril.

Good afternoon,
The Salinas Union High School District has some very important information regarding distance learning for the rest of the semester. In addition to taking care of their basic needs, it is very important for your student to engage their mind and be an active participant in distance learning with their courses. This is an opportunity for your student to take advantage of a unique time to deepen their understanding across various subjects.
It is also important to know that our grading process has changed for the remainder of the year. Given this unprecedented crisis, we have adopted a hold harmless grading policy. This means that no student will receive a grade lower than what they earned during the 3rd quarter for the 4th quarter and overall second-semester grade. If a student did not perform well during the 3rd quarter, they will have the opportunity to improve the grade during the 4th quarter distance learning.
We miss our students and appreciate your flexibility and understanding during this time.

El Distrito Salinas Union High School tiene información muy importante sobre el aprendizaje a distancia para el resto del semestre. Además de ocuparse de sus necesidades básicas, es muy importante que su estudiante participe academicamente y sea un participante activo en el aprendizaje a distancia con sus cursos. Esta es una oportunidad para que su estudiante aproveche un momento único para profundizar su comprensión en varias materias.
También es importante saber que nuestro proceso de calificación ha cambiado para el resto del año. Dada esta crisis sin precedentes, hemos adoptado una póliza de reglas de calificar libre de toda responsabilidad. Esto significa que ningún estudiante recibirá una calificación inferior a la que obtuvo durante el tercer trimestre para el cuarto trimestre y la calificación general del segundo semestre. Si un estudiante no se desempeñó bien durante el tercer trimestre, tendrá la oportunidad de mejorar la calificación durante el aprendizaje a distancia durante el cuarto trimestre.
Extrañamos a nuestros estudiantes y apreciamos su flexibilidad y comprensión durante este tiempo.
