Whenever the schedule permits it, Mr. Rossi and Mr. Griffin turn the school's MPR into a recording studio. Click here to hear an example of our 5th and 6th graders singing back up to Mr. Griffin on a Buddy Holly song called "Maybe Baby." The students get a chance to perform and record some of the music that they have been taught during the week. Mr. Griffin takes on the role of Recording Engineer, while Mr. Rossi takes on the role of Sound Technician and Choir Director. The students learn how the recording process works, what DAW software is, what a powerful condenser microphone is, how to use digital effects, what a Gate digital effect is and why it's an important tool in an MPR recording session, how to mix down, master, and how to share via the internet.
