Hello! My name is Katie Oglesby. I am thrilled to be here in Salida teaching band and choir!
I am from Fort Collins, CO. I graduated from Colorado State University in May 2019 with a bachelors in Music Education and a minor in Spanish. I have always LOVED music, it is one of my greatest passions! I began playing the clarinet when I was in the sixth grade and performed all throughout college. I have performed in the CSU Marching Band, CSU Wind Symphony, CSU Symphonic Band, a clarinet quartet, and the CSU Clarinet Choir, to name a few.
Teaching is as much of a passion to me as music. I love being around people and helping young citizens discover the JOY of music! I have been teaching in some capacity since 2014. From teaching private music lessons, to holding teaching and administrative roles in CSU's Middle School Outreach Ensembles, and teaching at CSU's JR. LIFT Clarinet Camp.
Now in Salida, my true joy is directing the bands and choirs at Salida Middle School!! On top of that, I began running the Collegiate Peaks Middle School Honor Band in 2022. I also support music and music education on a state-wide level through my participation on the Colorado Music Educators Association Instrumental Council (District 6 Representative), Colorado Middle All State Choir Board of Governors (District 6 Representative), and Salida Aspen Concerts (Board member).
I started teaching at Salida Middle School in August, 2019.
When I am not teaching or playing music, I love to hike, swim, watch movies, and bake! I also love to spend time with my family, friends, and my sweet dog named Kane!
Please feel free to email me or call me throughout the semester. I will ALWAYS make time to answer questions and address concerns!
