Background

The dreaming and exploring is based on Fr Mick's Passion for God and God's Kingdom for all, Teaching, Family and Parish. First invitation was sent on 9th Nov.

Why this group? I saw so much giftedness among them. Including a Vocation ... Talents of organising, communication, theological training, formation. and working for Youth (my bias). I dreamt of them not being silos of faith - but with a synergy that supports them and is a gift to themselves, their Youth, their Family and their Parish Community.

So after a little consultation with some teachers in the parish I decided to invite them to dream and explore.

Action - Email: sent on Nov. 9 2016

Dear Teachers within the Engadine/Heathcote Parish,

Do you realise you are one of 80+ people who live in our parish and are part of Sydney Catholic Schools? Those numbers surprised me and excited me.

I believe in the gift of connecting/community. I believe in living our core values and faith for it is a gift to ourselves and those around us. I dream of finding ways to live our faith and core values, in connected and supportive ways.

As I look around our parish I see you either regularly or infrequently. I am always excited by the gifts I see within you. I see most of you living a vocation (a calling from God) and not just a job. I see you living your faith within your job and being supported by your work structures (albeit not perfectly!). I see many of you well formed in your faith by courses, P.D. spirituality days, and the call to teach faith to students and staff. I see how you are given the opportunity to pray regularly (with students and other staff) and thus grow or sustain your own relationship with Jesus/God.

I also see how many live these gifts in the community of their school but not their wider parish/church community. I see some living it in the parish/church community but unaware of how many others are like minded and like gifted. I see some feeling torn by the call of their parish and the call of their school. I see many other calls on your lives from family to sport to community, to the need for rest and more! All important things.

My dream is to help teachers tap into their gifts and the gifts of fellow parishioners/teachers for your own enrichment, the enrichment of your family, and for the enrichment of God’s Mission.

If this strikes a note in your heart and you would like to dream and explore what song we could create in our parish family, I invite you to a meeting of ‘dreaming and exploring’.

I offer two sessions next week that begin the ‘dreaming and exploring’. Tuesday at 7.30pm or Wed. at 7.30pm in the Primary School Hall. Let me know if you wish to dream and explore in this context by coming to one of the sessions or expressing interest in future things that the group might offer? (rsvp if you wish to come to either session so we have approximately the right number of chairs set up)

I know I do not have everyone's email address so if you know teachers in our parish and are interested, I invite you to ask them did they get this email? If they didn't please pass it on.

Thanks for your commitment to God in the amazing profession of teaching,

Blessings Fr Mick (Parish Priest)
