Colegio Salesiano San Juan Bosco Valencia (Spain)

The school Salesianos San Juan Bosco Valencia is a private but state funded school. The district of Quatre Carreres, where the school is located, is the one with the highest population in the city of Valencia. 19% of the population is immigrant. The unemployment rate is close to 30%, one of the highest in Valencia. The income of our district is one of the lowest in the city. (Data from the Statistical Office of Valencia's City Council). There are 1,615 students (from preschool to the highest levels of Secondary education) and a total staff of 163 employees (110 teachers and 53 administration and services staff).

MOTIVATION: The school introduces innovative projects in its educational process. In the framework of Education for Development, in order to train citizens committed with our world, our school has embarked on a strategic plan focused on sustainability and environmental education. This project has different initiatives all coordinated by our Green School commission. For example, a project called "Sostinc" about environmental issues and sustainable development, which is also linked to another European project called AmiAble: "Amigos de la Alimentación Sostenible" (Friends of Sustainable Food) where we exchanged experiences with a French school, and we were granted a KA229 scholarship (reference 2019-1-ES01-KA229- 063818).

ERASMUS+ COORDINATING TEAM: Our school has an Erasmus+ coordinating team made up of 7 teachers from different school levels, with the support of the school principal. There are two general coordinators, responsible for implementing and monitoring the different stages of preparation and implementation of the Erasmus+ project in Spain. These coordinators will handle communication and coordination with the main coordinating teams of the partner schools in other European countries. The main coordinators will be replaced by other coordinators (which are part of the Erasmus+ team), in the event that the former were not able to continue with their duties, so the new coordinators can continue managing the project. Also, a team of Secondary education teachers will manage local activities and the short-term mobilities in the partner schools.

Among the projects carried out inside our Green School Programme, we can find "Sostinc" project, our school vegetable garden and our school eco-audit. In addition, this school has experience for more than 15 years in exchanges and international projects with other schools around the world (for example TIME project, iniciated for UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network), as well as Comenius and Erasmus+ projects. We have been coordinators in a KA101 project about inclusion and emotional intelligence (EMotiON: Educating and Motivating for new Opportunities and Needs, 2019-1-ES01-KA101-061894) and a KA229 project about sustainable food (AmiAble: Amis de l'Alimentation Durable, Friends of Sustainable Food, 2019-1-ES01-KA229- 063818).
