InterAmerican Regional Formation
The Association of Salesian Cooperators is a lay association in the Catholic Church. It is one of the three main branches of the Salesian Family founded by St. John Bosco in 1876 to provide care and education to young people, especially those who are poor. Don Bosco described the Cooperators as "people who wish to devote themselves to works of mercy in a specific rather than a general way." Don Bosco established rules and a mission for the Cooperators which are included today in The Project of Apostolic Life.

Background:
Fr. Attard is a Maltese priest ordained in 1987. He has a history of missionary and pastoral work, including serving in Tunisia from 1988 to 1991.
Previous Roles:
Before becoming Rector Major, Fr. Attard was the General Councillor for Youth Ministry.
Responsibilities:
As Rector Major, he will guide and animate the Salesian Congregation worldwide, which is composed of 13,750 consecrated Salesians.
Vision for the Future:
Fr. Attard's election signifies a new chapter for the congregation, especially as religious institutions face challenges in engaging young people.
We are Catechists, work with youth ministry, and participate in adoration ministry.

These programs include St. Rosalie Parish, St. John Bosco Parish, Our Lady of Prompt Succor, Immaculate conception, Academy of Our Lady, Archbishop Shaw High School.
