Abstract
Alchemist beliefs that metals could be transformed into gold. In contrast, Chemistry evidences that reactants can not be transformed rather than combined during a chemical reaction. The “Golden rain” experiment shows precisely how molecules are combined in a double replacement reaction. The apparent transformation of some substances can be explained with scientific knowledge: the combination of the colorless products creates a yellow solution that is not golden. Is the product of the reaction of the Potassium iodide & Lead Nitrate. Although alchemy has been often consider the origin of chemistry, this research highlight that its beliefs have no scientific basis. Nowadays it can be understood as a Pseudoscience. The distinction between Pseudoscience and Science is important for our society in order to be critical in certain daily decisions.
