The program started with the first season in 2010-11 with Erin Cross as the head coach after enough girls willing to start a team approached Mr. Petrick.  They've had three undefeated Lake City Conference Championships in the 2022-23, 2023-24, & 2024-25 seasons.  The team is currently coached by Kassidi Macak and she is assisted by Jumana Badwan and Safiya Schaub.

The boys basketball program is the oldest varsity sport here at Salam School; starting in 2008.  The boys basketball program has won five conference championships.  An Indian Trails Conference Championship in the 2013-14 season under John Kloppenburg and four Lake City Conference Championships in the 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24, & 2024-25 seasons under Coach Abdallah Badwan.  The team is currently coached by Abdallah Badwan and he is assisted by David Gremling.
