Tryout Dates
Sign up for tryouts: Must be completed by 5 pm on Friday, February 27th.
Mandatory Parent Meeting: Monday, March 2nd at 6:30 PM in the CHS Cafeteria
Campus Evaluation/Teacher Recs: Coming soon at Parent Meeting
Mandatory Tryout Practice: Wednesday, March 11th 5:30 - 7:30 in the T-Gym
Cheer/Mascot Tryouts: Friday, March 13th at 2 pm in the T-Gym

Mandatory Meeting
There will be a mandatory meeting that all candidates and one of their parents/guardians are required to attend. If the parent/guardian or candidate is unable to attend the meeting, they must contact the coach prior to the meeting and get approval for missing the meeting. Anyone who misses the meeting without contacting the coach and receiving approval prior to the meeting will not be allowed to tryout. At the meeting, candidates and parents/guardians will check over the information submitted online and both will have to sign verifying the information.
Mandatory Tryout Practice
There will be one mandatory practice on Wednesday, March 11th from 5:30 - 7:30. If a candidate for cheerleader or mascot does not attend they will not be eligible to try out. If a candidate for cheerleader or mascot has a conflict due to a school event they will need to let the coaches know and they will be allowed to try out.
Submitting Video for Tryouts
There are only two reasons a video will be allowed at tryouts: Injury or absence due to a school-related activity.
1. A candidate for cheerleader may submit a video of jumps and/or tumbling if the candidate is injured at the time of tryouts. The video must be from the current school year, and the candidate must have a note from the doctor or SAISD trainer stating that he/she is unable to do the skills being submitted due to injury. All videos must be submitted to the coach 24 hours before tryouts. Any videos submitted after this time will not be used unless the injury occurs at tryouts. The candidate must be healthy enough to perform the cheer and dance for the judges at the time of tryouts.
If a candidate does not have a video of their skills to submit, they may use their scores from the previous year with a ½ point deduction in each category used with the following conditions:
a. The scores are from CHS, Glenn, or Lone Star tryouts.
b. The candidate performed the skills at tryouts the year before.
2. A candidate for cheerleader or mascot may submit a video tryout if they are gone for an approved SAISD event. The video must be submitted to the coach 24 hours before tryouts and must be one continuous video. Any videos submitted after this time will not allowed.
Questions After Tryouts
Any questions about tryouts after they are concluded must be made during the first week back from spring break. All questions submitted after that time will not be answered. Please direct any questions to the coaches Makayla (makayla.morgan@saisd.org).
