About Me!

I was born and raised in the small town of McCamey Texas. I went to Angelo State University and played French Horn in the Marching band. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, making crafts, and working out. I also enjoy cooking and baking. I taught at Lincoln for 2 years then left for a year and now I am back at the BEST Middle School in town!!

I am looking forward to this school year!

Why am I teaching?

At first, my husband wanted me to become a teacher so that I had the same schedule as our kids. I had always wanted to be a teacher but never jumped and was a Social Worker prior to teaching. Although I did not have an original degree in teaching, I decided to jump all in! When I got here, I fell in love with Lincoln. The family atmosphere, the presence of the administration team, and the wealth of knowledge from everyone there and the fact that they were willing to share! The students have been respectful and wonderful to have in the classroom. I think that even though I did not receive my certification through college, I have a little bit of an upper hand. I went through classes that taught how to relate to people, how to listen to people, and I learned more about different cultures. These are all things that are beneficial to teaching. I have fallen in love with this profession and cannot wait to continue my career and continue growing.

I have now taught for 4 years. This is my 5th year. When I was in school, I had familial issues that often cast negative energy into my school day. I had a couple of amazing band directors that always were there when I needed to talk, or just to have a space to practice something to get my mind off what was going on. They pushed me to new heights that I never would have thought I would be able to reach on my own. They taught me that if I worked hard enough, I would achieve anything I set my mind to. The reason I want to teach is to pass that mindset on to students. The reason I specifically want to teach math is to smash the mindset that math is too difficult to do. I want to show kids that math is doable and they do it more often than they think. I want to show it to them in a new light. I want to inspire greatness in our kids because they ALL have greatness in them!
