The Lincoln Mariachi program aims to educate students and the community in one of Mexico's most beautiful art forms, Mariachi Music. In this program, students will learn self discipline, team building skills, and an appreciation for other cultures while learning an instrument in mariachi.
Rosendo Ramos was raised in San Angelo and participated in band and mariachi programs throughout his secondary school years at Edison Jr. High and Central High School. Rosendo and his wife April Ramos reside with their three beautiful daughters, Maya Lynn Ramos 10, Bella Rose Ramos 7, and Mila Rae Ramos 2. In his 13 years at SAISD, Rosendo has directed award winning band, orchestra, and mariachi programs at Lincoln and Lake View High School. The mariachi programs at Lincoln Middle School and Lake View High School continue to grow with enrollment surpassing 250 students this year. Rosendo hopes to enlighten the community on the importance of the Arts in Education.
Ezra Ramírez was born in San Angelo of migrant parents from Mexico. Music has been part of his life since he can remember. He has been performing since the age of 10 in venues throughout the state at various events. Mr. Ramírez was introduced to mariachi at a young age by his dad as his dad enjoys singing mariachi songs. Mr. Ramírez first joined the school mariachi at Edison Jr High School and continued at Central High School. It was through mariachi program that he met his wife, Carolina Ramírez. They now have a beautiful daughter, Karina, and continue to perform in mariachi groups today. Mr. Ramírez now shares his passion with young minds in hopes that they too can build many beautiful memories that will impact their lives.
Francisco Carreón is a native of Odessa, Texas who has been involved in the world of mariachi music since the age of 12. Francisco is a versatile instrumentalist who has performed and conducted workshops as an indivdual artist/guest and as a member with Mariachi Aztlán of the University of Texas- Río Grande Valley, Mariachi Los Arrieros Del Valle and Mariachi Los Toros throughout the United States and Mexico. Within these performances, he has accompanied well renowned artists such as Pedro Fernandez, Polo Urias, Diego Verdaguer, Amanda Miguel, Laura Zapata, Juan Valentin, Pablo Montero and Paquita La del Barrio. Francisco is now a full time Mariachi educator for San Angelo ISD and the Program Coordinator for the Hispanic Cultural Center of Midland’s Mariachi Workshop and Concert.
The Lincoln Mariachi provides entertainment at our community events. Our program has been recognized by our community leaders for representing the culture and our school in a positive way.
