Medication Administration At School

Tips for success:

• All medication permission must go through the nurse's office for approval.

• Inhalers may be carried in a student back pack IF:

  • They have an asthma action plan signed by the doctor and guardian on file with the nurse.

  • The inhaler is in the original box with pharmacy label OR the inhaler has a pharmacy label on it.

• EpiPens may be carried in a student backpack IF:

  • They have an allergy action plan complete with the self-carry agreement signed by the doctor, guardian, and student.

  • The EpiPen is individually labeled with a pharmacy label.

• Students may not carry any medication on their person except as outlined above - cough drops and all over the counter medications are included.

• If your student has a special circumstance, not covered by these guidelines, please call the nurse.

• Disregarding district medication policies will result in consequences as deemed necessary by school administrators.
