PLEASE KEEP SICK STUDENTS HOME!
No place is safer than home. Limit your time away from home.
Stay home when you are sick. Stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. You will help prevent others from catching your illness.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Practice social distancing. Stay 6 feet apart from other individuals. Do not gather in groups of more than 10.
Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others. The cloth face cover is meant to protect other people in case you are infected.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs spread this way.
Cover coughs and sneezes. Use a tissue to cover coughs and sneezes, then dispose of the tissue. When a tissue is not available, cough or sneeze into your elbow.
Clean and disinfect surfaces or objects. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work or school, especially when someone is ill.
Wash hands for 20 seconds. Washing hands often under clean, running water can help prevent the spread of germs. For more guidance see the CDC: When and How to Wash Your Hands. If you cannot wash your hands, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60-95% alcohol.
Shannon Medical Center is providing Concho Valley residents free online coronavirus screenings through its telehealth program, Shannon On Demand. The service is for people who are worried they may have been exposed to the virus, and are suffering from mild to moderate flu-like symptoms.
To start a screening, patients can go to www.ShannonOnDemand.com. To utilize the service on a mobile device, download the free Shannon On Demand app from the Apple or Google Play app stores. Patients then must create an account by following the prompts to set up their screening. Upon reaching the payment screen, enter the code SHANNONCOVID19 and the screening will be free.
Shannon Medical Center has a site in San Angelo for drive-thru COVID-19 screening and testing.
Located at 110 East Twohig Street in downtown San Angelo.
7 days a week, 9 am to 5 pm
This site enables patients to drive up and be evaluated in their vehicle by a medical provider. If the provider determines the patient may have COVID-19, according to the criteria set by the CDC, the patient will then be tested on site. Personnel will collect the necessary samples to send off for the test. The patient will then receive instructions regarding self-quarantine and next steps they must take until test results are returned.
There is no cost to the patient, and Shannon is not collecting any money at their testing site. They are only collecting patient contact and insurance information, similar to any doctor visit.
To help you determine if you need to be screened or tested, use this self-checker tool from the CDC.
