I have been in education for 24 years. I have three wonderful children: Andrew, Tony, and Cristina. My oldest son, Andrew, is active duty Air Force; my middle son, Tony, is an Angelo State University graduate; my daughter, Cristina, is an Angelo State University student. When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my grandbabies. I spent 13 years as a Spanish teacher and an ESL teacher before becoming a school counselor. Before moving to Lincoln I was the At-Risk Coordinator at Carver Learning Center. I look forward to working at Lincoln to advocate for students in becoming successful contributors to society.

I grew up only speaking Spanish, I learned English in the first grade. I became a mom my senior year in high school. My parents were VERY supportive and made sure I still graduated from high school and kept my mindset to be College bound no matter my situation. My parents helped me keep my dream alive to become a high school teacher. With the help of my parents and later my husband my dream to become a teacher and my goal to become a counselor was realized. Because I had the support of my parents and husband, I was able to dream BIG and realize those dreams. I’ve always had a desire to empower at-risk students to realize their goals. I enjoy helping students find the resources to achieve their dreams. I want my students to understand that under any circumstance they may find themselves in there are resources and help to assist them to achieve their dreams. I never want my students to think any door is closed due to their circumstances. I believe building positive relationships is key to helping students strive for greatness. My mission is to love, encourage, and empower students in an effort to make them successful contributors to society. Everything I mentioned above is “My Why” when it comes to my students, and they will always have an advocate in me to help them achieve their goals.
The mission of the Lincoln Middle School Counseling Program is to maintain an all-inclusive environment focused on love and encouragement. Challenge students to hold a growth mindset with academics and social-emotional development. Through a collaborative effort with students, families, and community partners we strive for greatness in developing successful contributors to society.
