Mrs. Amaro
Bradford Elementary Music Teacher
About Me
My name is Mrs. Amaro. This is my 15th year of teaching! I taught at Goliad Elementary for 13 years and this is my second year at Bradford Elementary. My husband and I have been married for 12 years and I am blessed to have a sweet 8 year old daughter and a fun 2 year old son. My husband is also a teacher at Glenn Middle School. I have a dog named Lacie and she loves to be spoiled. I am a college graduate of Angelo State University. I play the piano, the violin, the guitar, and I love to sing! I hope you feel welcomed in my class!
My Why
When I begin to think about my teaching “Why” I very quickly think of the word love. In 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 it says, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” Such beautiful words that I aspire to be in my daily life and especially to my students. I personally believe that all students need to be shown love no matter what age, race, gender, financial status, behavior, nor if they deserve it. If I can make a student feel honored, protected, valued then I know that I have done my job as a teacher. Growing up I was very blessed to be raised in great schools and most of my teachers made a positive impact on me. I remember all my teachers but the ones who really stood out to me were the ones who taught in love. They showed patience to me when I didn’t understand the lesson, they were slow to become angry if lessons didn’t go their way, they celebrated daily victories with me. I want to be that for my students every day. One of the best things about being a music teacher is that I have the honor of teaching every single student in the whole school. I get to make an impact on everyone and for all their elementary years. Why do I teach? Simple, I love kids and I see the potential they have to grow up and impact the world around us. Each year as I continue to teach what drives me is my students. What I do in my classroom can open their minds to the beautiful world of music. I love to teach students that music can take you places not only in their mind but also in this world. What a great privilege I have to see my students stay in music classes as they move on into middle school and high school and see how they become amazing musicians. I have taught all of years on the north side of town and they have my heart. Yes, music is a difficult class at times but to see my students come back to perform for elementary students or at a concert, or even some continuing to play in college is so rewarding. Above my students becoming musicians or learning about music my biggest takeaway each school year is, did they feel loved and valued, did a child smile because of me, did I make their life brighter for the time that they spent with me.
