There will be a callback where students will be asked to do a cold reading and group sing.There will be nothing to prepare for the call backs in advance. All materials will be provided at the call back.
*Note all students called back may not be cast and students not called back may still be cast.*

Your song should be memorized, characterized, and have appropriate movement if desired.
A microphone on a stand will be provided for you to perform with onstage. The microphone can be removed from the stand. This show sounds like a rock concert. Keep this in mind as you are practicing. All pieces will be performed with tracks (not live accompaniment)
B. Wear something nice but comfortable that you can move in.
C. A short dance call will be taught and performed as a group.

How to really shine in a dance call:
Perform the choreography. Don't just do the steps. Tell the story. Be in the moment of the character. Think about who you are and why you're moving.
Bring BIG energy.
Use your face. Your expression is part of your performance. Let us see what your character is thinking and feeling.
Be aware of your ensemble. Know where the people around you are. Support the group rather than competing with it. Applaud for each other. Give high fives. Be a friend to all. We work with people that want to work with others.
Stay engaged when you're not being watched. We notice your focus, attitude, and energy throughout the entire auditions.
Take risks. Don't be afraid to look silly, make a bold choice, or give us more than you think you should. We can't add energy that you don't give us. You set the bar.
We aren't looking for perfection. We're looking for performers we can trust to learn, grow, and tell a story.
Want an extra challenge?
If you feel confident with the choreography, challenge yourself to go one step further.
Imagine you are performing this number with a handheld microphone in your hand.
That means:
One hand is occupied. How does that change the way you move?
Keep the microphone with you. Practice making it feel like a natural part of your performance.
Stay connected to your character. What would your character do with the microphone?
Think like a performer, not just a dancer. Where would you look? When would you engage the audience? When would you pull the microphone away to emphasize a moment?
