officially changed all plastics to compostables on January 15th, 2024
Growing up in Panama City, Panama, I witnessed firsthand the lasting impact of plastic pollution. Over time, plastic waste began to overtake the country’s natural beauty. When I moved to the United States, I noticed that plastic pollution still existed, but it was far less visible and urgent than it had been in Panama. Seeing this environmental inequality at such a young age motivated me to take action at my own school, as I strive to connect and advocate for the two places I call home. I knew Global Scholars would be the place where I could turn awareness into action.
Through my Global Scholars project, I’ve grown as an Ursuline leader in all four dimensions. As a leader, I took initiative and guided ideas into action. As a thinker, I became more aware and learned to see global issues from different perspectives. As a nurturer, I supported and encouraged my community. As a prophet, I found my voice and spoke up for change. Overall, I’ve become more confident, aware, and committed to making a difference.
