In this unit, students take a step back in time to discover how the United States became its own country! Through stories and discussions, they’ll learn about life in the American colonies, what led to the American Revolution, and meet important figures like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin. Along the way, we’ll explore big ideas like freedom, independence, and teamwork, while building new vocabulary such as colony, patriot, and liberty. By the end of the unit, students will have a strong foundation for understanding how our country began and why it still matters today.
