Hi! My name is Mrs. Beth Byrd and I will be your child's third grade teacher at St. Pius this school year! My interests are gardening, nature, exercising, reading, and the University of Michigan. Can't wait for football season!!! My family loves to go Up North to our cabin and go boating, kayaking, and playing Euchre. I am currently a co-leader of the Green Team at St. Pius. It is a wonderful group of students and teachers dedicated to saving the Earth through conservation, recycling, and promoting Earth-friendly activities. As for my education, I graduated from the University of Michigan with my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education K-5 with a math and Language arts concentration. A few year later, received my Master's Degree from the University of Michigan in Classroom Teaching with a Middle School Endorsement 6-8th grade. As for my experience, I first taught at St. Joseph School in Trenton for 6 years (1st grade and 4th/5th grade). I then worked in the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District for 23 years where I taught mainly third grade and retired there in 2021. I just finished my fourth year of teaching 3rd grade at St. Pius and am starting my 5th year. 26 out of my 33 teaching years so far have been as a third grade teacher, so I have a lot of experience behind me to help your child have a wonderful year! My children Erik and Olivia both graduated from St. Pius in 2016 and 2018 respectively, and I am a former graduate myself from the Class of 1983 at St. Pius. I love St. Pius School and feel very blessed to be back home! It's going to be a wonderful year!! WELCOME BACK!!
