Who? There appear to be 3 main subjects: a man and two young girls, maybe between the ages of 3 and 7. The ages are hard to tell, as they are all facing the other direction. They are dressed for the cold, all wearing coats and pants. However, the two girls are wearing rain boots.
What? The subjects are looking at the landscape. There is no obvious movement in the picture; it seems to literally be a standstill moment.
When? Based on attire, the photo could be very recent or taken in the last 20 years. Based on the weather, it looks like it could be during the colder months, but that also depends on the setting.
Where? The setting is in the mountains; there is snow and forests under an almost clear sky. There might be water past the mountains or just flat land. There are no landmarks or signs other than mountains, so it could be anywhere with a similar landscape.
Reading chapter 1 reminded me of an artist who not only looks at old works of art, but finds people who look at them and makes more works of art. Here's a link to some of his work below:

“The Headstrong Historian” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Makes me think about stories as a way that history is remembered. Oftentimes stories about history are told by those who are in power especially during colonization. We often hear stories from their point of view and not from the people that are being colonized. Storytelling is a way that lost powerful groups of people can remember and teach their history. This also makes me think about how history is told by the stories that we want to tell and if things are left out they are lost.
