Reading

"Reading is to the Mind What Exercise is to the Body." ~ Sir Richard Steele

Notes...

  • STAR Reading Assessments will be given in the first month of school to evaluate students reading performance.

  • Permission forms for AIS Reading services will be sent home soon!

What is AIS?

AIS stands for Academic Intervention Services. Students who need extra practice and support in reading, will receive that here at St. Mark through working with me. Student eligibility for these services depend on several factors, teacher observation, assessment scores, parent request. It is a fluid service, which means students may stop receiving services once they make sufficient progress, but can always return if they need to.

This year present many difficulties fro scheduling; however, I will do my best work with students this year 1-2 times each week in grades 1-6, depending on scheduling and needs. I hope to work with students once face to face, and once virtually.

In grades 4-6 I will have Google Classrooms set up for assignments and discussions as well as occasional Google Meet sessions.

Please feel free to reach out to me via email jbetzig@saintmarkschool.com with any questions or concerns.
