Weekly Update for May 30-June 1, 2023

My last Weekly Update!! It is hard to believe our Pre-K year is almost over! The children have learned so much this year, and have grown up so much! They are ready for Kindergarten!! We spent much of last week doing games and activities that practiced our letters and numbers. We also continued to honor Mary by saying part of the Rosary and crowning our statue of Mary. I also took some time last week to go over some basic skills that we have learned this year. I will put them in their folder with their final Report Card on Thursday.

This week will be a very quick week! I will continue to send home their belongings. The workbooks are not fully completed. Please free to do any of the pages we skipped over the summer! We will also celebrate our children who have summer birthdays on Wednesday.

On Thursday, we will celebrate our last day of school!! We have our show in the morning, and in the afternoon, we will have a picnic lunch outside, play with some little water activities that I will set up, and then watch a movie and have popcorn! And that's it!! It has been an amazing year! You should be very proud of your child, as I know I am!! It has been a pleasure to be their teacher! I will truly miss seeing their bright smiling faces each day!! I hope you all have a safe, wonderful and fun summer! God bless each of you!!

Weekly Update for May 22-26, 2023

The weeks are going by so fast!! We spent most of this week doing activities and games that review all our letters and numbers. We also practiced sequencing and making patterns.

In religion, we have been crowning our Blessed Mother statue in school and saying part of the Rosary each day. This Monday, we will bring flowers to the statue of Mary outside. We will have our own little May Procession!

We have also been practicing our songs that we will sing at our End of the Year Celebration.

Looking ahead to this week, we will continue to practice reviewing our letters, numbers, and printing. We play all kinds of fun games and do different learning centers as our review. This Thursday is our Field Day with the rest of the school. It will also be our last gym class! This is a fun day filled with all kinds of games that the children play outside.

This is a short week in school,as we have off on Friday for the Memorial Day holiday. Since we also have off next Monday, I will wait until next week to send home their sleep stuff-for the last time!

Have a happy week!!

Weekly Update for May 15-19, 2023

Happy Mother's Day!! I hope you enjoyed all the treasures the children made especially for you!! They were very proud of all their hard work, and so was I!!

Besides working hard on Mother 's Day gifts, we had exciting news in our Pre-K!! Our caterpillars emerged from their chrysalises!! We watched them carefully until they were ready to fly outdoors. On Friday, we set them free!

Last week we continued to practice our letters, our printing, crowning our Blessed Mother statue, and saying the Rosary. This week we will practice our numbers both writing them and matching quantities. We will also practice sequencing. This is another logical thinking skill, like patterns.

This week we will also get to enjoy an ice cream treat as our reward for being one of the top classes in donations for the Soles on Fire Fundraiser! Way to go Pre-K!!

Have a happy week!!

Weekly Update for May 8-12, 2023

Well, we finished the alphabet!! But we haven't finished practicing all we have learned. We will spend from now until the end of the school year practicing letter recognition, matching upper to lower case, and letter sounds. We do this through all kinds of games and crafts. Last week we continued to practice patterns, and printing our names. We are also keeping a close eye on our caterpillars which are in the next stage of their life cycle- the chrysalis stage. If all goes well, they should emerge later this week!! We have also been honoring our Blessed Mother Mary each morning by crowning our statue of Mary, and saying part of the Rosary. May is the month we honor Mary. We will also be honoring our own moms too! Mother 's Day is coming up. We will be very busy this week making all kinds of special gifts for our special moms!

Just a little note, I will not be in school tomorrow. I am attending a funeral tomorrow, but my able assistant, Ms. Carberry will be taking over. I will see my friends on Tuesday!

Have a blessed week. Enjoy the warm weather...finally!!!

Weekly Update for May1-5,2023

Last week we watched as our caterpillars grew and grew!! We learned all about the 4 stages a caterpillar goes through to turn into a butterfly. Our caterpillars have entered into the chrysalis or pupa stage (They will see this on Monday!!) Last week we also learned about the letter and sound for Yy. Yeah!! We are almost done the alphabet!! In Math, we have been continuing  to practice making and finishing patterns. The children have also started to practice printing their names on lined paper. This takes a lot of practice!

This week, we will continue to carefully watch our caterpillars that are in their chrysalis stage. This week we will learn about the letter Zz!! What better way to practice this sound than by going to the Zoo! Well, pretend Zoo! We need stuffed animals to be in our zoo, so if the children have stuffed animals that look like the real animal, they can bring them to school on Thursday. I will remind everyone about this in an email this week. Finally, on Friday, we will celebrate Cinco de Mayo by doing some fun games and activities. Ole`!!
