WORLD FOOD DAY
This year on World Food Day, both student and parent of St John;s School Gading Serpong Primary unit donated some food to Food Cycle Indonesia to be distributed to people in need.
Heroes day that was celebrated on November 10 and 11 in Saint John's primary Gading Serpong gave two main activities. The first is the flag hoisting ceremony that commemorates the struggle of the heroes to get the independent of Indonesia. Primary five was chosen to be the flag hoisting ceremony's officers. Bryan from 5 Cooperative was chosen as the leader of this ceremony. Heroes day is celebrating on November 10 because it was the first battle after Indonesia got the sovereignty as a country and the battle that was happened in Surabaya was called as inferno (hell) battle as many victims passed away.
Primary students celebrated this event on November 11 by conducting a fashion show with hero as the theme where the students make the costume from recycle or used items. Parents and students also involved in a drama with theme team work. Some parents took role as a security in the drama and acted that they stay over night to make sure the environment is safe. We call this as siskamling.
Other competition was marching competition that asked the students to follow some commands in marching. They have to do the command as a team. Through this event, students learn how to respect the heroes that surrender their lives for Indonesia, their country.
In commemoration of the youth pledge, St John's School, especially Primary Unit, held a flag hoisting ceremony. The ceremony was held in the front yard of the school. The ceremonial officers were grade 5 and 6 students. It went smoothly. This year's youth pledge has the theme "Bersama Bangun Bangsa". The ceremony held on November 28, 2022.
An epic event that initiated by the parents of primary one to primary six was conducted on November 25, 2022. There were around 70 parents that helped to prepare this event. They trained the students for three weeks to perform a surprise performances for their beloved teachers.
This committee who was chaired by Ibu Vanda, mother of Nathaniel (2 Responsible) arranged such a great performances that was conducted for two hours. They prepared the decorations, games, delicious food, and even handling the students in the class room and during the event.
One of the great performances was the singing performance at the end of the event. The song was written by one of the parents who was also the committee of the event. The song writer is Dianna Stevens, mother of Joanna (3 Patient) and Joe (2 Helpful).
