The observance of Indonesia's Independence Day occurred with solemnity during the flag-raising ceremony on the designated date. The flag ceremony took place in the field adjacent to the school, with active participation from sixth-grade students serving as ceremony officials. Participants comprised students from elementary school grades 4-6, as well as those from junior and senior high school levels. The theme for Indonesia's independence in 2023 centred around "Continuing to Progress for an Advanced Indonesia."
Several notable elements of this Independence Day celebration included the students' eager involvement in attentively listening to the messages conveyed by the ceremony leader. The ceremony's address took the form of quizzes and questions, accompanied by small prizes. This indirectly prompted students to engage in critical thinking, draw conclusions, and grasp the values embedded in the ceremony's message. Moreover, special recognition was extended to the ceremony officials who dedicatedly practised for a month to fulfil their challenging roles—especially remarkable given their elementary school status. Their flawless execution stemmed not only from dedication but also from intention and genuine interest.
This accomplishment reaffirms our commitment at Saint John’s School to consistently focus on and provide unique opportunities for students to cultivate their skills and interests through school-organized events. We extend our heartfelt independence greetings to all!
World Food Day and United Nation Day at Saint John's Gading Serpong
Saint John's School was gearing up for two exciting events to celebrate global diversity and unity: World Food Day and United Nations Day.
World Food Day, scheduled for Friday, October 20th, 2023, during break time, promises to be a delicious affair. Students were encouraged to bring traditional foods from their homes to share with their peers. The foods were displayed according to designated areas around the school premises, ensuring a convenient and organized setup. Students enjoyed a standing party atmosphere, where they could sample various dishes. It's important to note that students must finish their food in the designated areas provided. After 20 minutes, they were allowed to explore other classes and try different delicacies. To add a fun twist, students who could accurately explain the dish they were eating might receive a small surprise from the management team.
United Nations Day followed on Friday, October 27th, 2023, during homeroom time. Each class has the opportunity to showcase their creativity and cultural pride through performances representing different Indonesian islands. From Kalimantan to Maluku and Papua, students wore traditional attire reflecting the island they were representing. These short performances, lasting 5 minutes each, not only entertain but also educate fellow students about the rich diversity of Indonesia. It's a chance for students to appreciate and celebrate the unique cultural heritage of each region.
Both events enriched experiences, fostering a sense of community and appreciation for cultural diversity among students at Saint John's School.
On November 24th, 2023, Saint John's School overflowed with gratitude and admiration as students and parents came together to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Day. This heartwarming event, organized by devoted parents, was a testament to the deep respect and love our community holds for our teachers.
In each primary level, from Primary 1 to Primary 6, special arrangements were made to honor our dedicated educators. Each class showcased unique performances and activities tailored to express their gratitude and appreciation. From heartfelt speeches to creative presentations, the students poured their appreciation into every moment, demonstrating the profound impact their teachers have had on their lives.
As parents and students alike came together to express their gratitude, the atmosphere was filled with warmth and appreciation. It was a day filled with smiles, hugs, and words of thanks, as everyone united to show their love and respect for the tireless efforts of our teachers.
Teacher Appreciation Day 2023 was not just an event; it was a reaffirmation of the strong bond between teachers, students, and parents at Saint John's School. It served as a reminder of the invaluable role teachers play in shaping the minds and futures of our children, and the immense gratitude we hold for their unwavering dedication.
Saint John's School embarked on a collaborative journey with parents in its annual outreach program, a cornerstone of our school's commitment to community engagement. This year's outreach efforts extended support to three deserving institutions: Panti Beth Shalom, Yayasan Sayap Ibu, and SDN Cihuni 2 Pagedangan. Central to the success of these endeavors was the vibrant participation of both parents and the school community. Together, we orchestrated a bustling bazaar and fun-filled day, brimming with laughter and camaraderie. The proceeds from these joyous festivities were not merely confined to our school's coffers; rather, they were dedicated to enriching the lives of those in need through our outreach initiatives. Moreover, these collective efforts were instrumental in laying the groundwork for the forthcoming SJ Cup 2024, a testament to our unwavering dedication to both philanthropy and student enrichment. As we reflect on the culmination of these endeavors, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all involved parties whose generosity and enthusiasm made this multifaceted event a resounding success.
