Overview
Japan is a string of islands located in northeast Asia, surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Japan. Japan has four main islands: Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu. In addition to these four main islands, there are over 4000 smaller islands. Over 80% of Japan's landscape is made up of mountains with narrow valleys surrounding them.
Beaches
Imagine thinking of Japan's scenery; beaches probably don't come to mind. However, because of its extensive coastline, Japan is lined with beautiful beaches.
Three Best Beaches to Visit
Yonaha Beach, Okinawa has seemingly endless sparkling white sand, which contrasts with the deep blue water and is popular with both locals and tourists.
Sunayama Beach, Okinawa is best known for its famous rock arch overlooking the water. Aside from its beautiful views, Sunayama Beach is also easily accessible to the public.
Furuzamami Beach, Okinawa has crystal-clear waters and coral reefs perfect for snorkeling.
Mount Fuji
Mount Fuji is Japan's tallest mountain, rising to 12,388 ft. Mount Fuji is famous throughout the world, and is a popular symbol of Japan.

Kyoto
Kyoto is a traditional Japanese city filled with famous shrines, gardens, and architecture.
Tokyo
Tokyo is the capital of Japan and one of the busiest cities in the world. Tokyo offers many museums and restaurants for tourists.
Takayama
Takayama is a small town in the Japanese Alps, with historic houses and local markets.
Cherry Blossoms
Japan is know to have some of the best cherry blossoms in the world. In ancient Japan, cherry blossoms were the symbolic flower of the spring, a time of renewal. Due to their quick blooming season, cherry blossoms also symbolize the transience of life. Cherry blossoms bloom for around two weeks, then they start to fall.
