It is always my goal to try to get the students interested in physical fitness through various activities. I stress the importance of making physical activity a part of everyday life. Students are encouraged to participate to the best of their own ability because I understand that not everyone is athletic. I do my best to vary the activities because I know everyone has different interests. Physical activity is important for everyone. It is also something that can be enjoyed by the entire family.

Exercise should never be used or considered a punishment but rather something to be practiced to improve the student's overall physical and mental well-being.

The grading rubric is on a scale of 1-4 for grades 4-8. I will not grade on athletic ability because we are all gifted with different talents. I grade on respect for all which includes faculty, staff, classmates and self. I also grade on effort and cooperation because even though not everyone is athletic, everyone is asked to try their best. I encourage the students to approach me if there is anything they are uncomfortable with or if there is any time they are not feeling up to participating. Parents can feel free to write to me if there is ever a need for a student to opt out of any activity. The students will be evaluated during each trimester. They will be asked to perform 5 different exercises. The requirements are based on age. The students are encouraged to try to reach the standard for their age for each activity. The exercises are demonstrated and practiced and can be reinforced at home. Maybe you could make it part of your family routine!
