We will begin mad minute next week. The students need to complete at least 80% of a multiplication fact sheet to achieve their badge. Once they have, they move on to the next fact. The flash cards we are making in school is a great tool to utilize when practicing. I ask that these flash cards go back and forth from home and school each day. We do mad minute in the same order as our math series. (2, 5, 9, 0, 1, 10, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12) You will receive a note each day telling if they are moving on to the next fact or need to redo the same one. This is NOT graded and we will be doing this until the end of the year, but it is imperative that your child practices and memorizes all facts for future grades.
Last year some of my students found an electronic game called 'Multiplication Slam'. It's kind of like bop it but for multiplication. It was a wonderful tool and I truly believe it helped the students learn their facts. With Christmas coming up, it's a great gift for your child if you are able to purchase it. This is absolutely not mandatory, just a recommendation! I'm attaching a link of the game, but you can find it at many stores other than Amazon.

For the Christmas show, the third grade students must wear a plain, white long sleeve shirt or sweatshirt, jeans, and sneakers. They will wear this on Thursday, December 18th, for the dress rehearsal and Friday, December 19th, for the actual Christmas show.
Please send in your child's Polar Express permission forms and the flash cards for math.
