Our Academic Block begins at 8am with academic games. Students arrive at the classroom and play math, literacy, or logic games to ease into the day and build friendship and community among students. Studies consistently show that academic games improve student performance across subjects, and help children learn to use logic, play fair, and be good sports.

Our focus for the morning is on Math, Literacy and study skills. Teachers assess students' mastery of grade-level skills (grade just completed), and pinpoint areas for growth. Students work in whole group, small groups, and 1-on-1 so that every student is getting the personalized attention they need to succeed. 

Weekly walking trips to the Whitwood Library help to foster a love of reading! Students will participate in the Library's Reading Program.
