A Typical Lesson in the Tech Lab: After instructions, teacher modelling of lesson, and/or watch a learning video, students log onto the computers and start working.
Students are encouraged to read through the instructions up on the board, work on task to solve any issues that might come up before asking teacher for assistance.
Teacher walks around the room to encourage students to complete the task, and assist students when needed.
"Students helping Students" is encouraged.
When students need additional assistance, teacher will re-model parts of the assignment, and answer any questions the students might have.
No Food, Drinks (including water) in the Tech Lab!
Each grade level spends thirty minutes in the Tech Lab each week. Usually, we split the class in half. Technology is integrated in the classroom, where students use the iPads and Chromebooks throughout the school day or week.

Assessment/Homework - Grades TK-2:
Students will be assessed and given pass or fail upon completion of each assignment. It is important that all students put effort into completing the assignment, they will get a pass for the assignment. When students are absent, they will not need to make up an assignment. In TK & Kindergarten, students will start using the computers for many online learning (mouse) games and typing games to assist students learning the alphabet on the keyboard. We want the students to enjoy what they are learning on the computer. As students get older, they will continue to learn technology skills that will help them to become technologically ethical citizens and life-long learners.
Homework - Grades 3-8:
- No Homework, unless classwork is not completed in class.
- It is the student's responsibility to contact teacher and make up work when absent from Tech Class.
- It is the student's responsibility to complete assignments on time. Assignments are usually due at the end of class, if the assignment is not completed in class, students will have two school days to complete the assignment. Students must notify me directly when they have completed the assignment. On the 3rd day, 1/2 of the points will be deducted from the assignment.
- Extra Credit will be available twice a quarter for students that have completed all of the required work, that would like to improve their grade.
Assessments - Grades 3-8:
- Students will be given various assignments throughout the year. As student finishes the assignment, they will be graded based on completing the assignment on time, and the level of completeness.
- Students will be required to monitor their own assessments on technology tool checklists. (Will be discussed in the Tech Lab)
High School Readiness - Grades 3-8:
- Students will be exposed to numerous amounts of technologies throughout their time at Saint Brigid School. Students will be encouraged to become creative, responsible, critical thinkers. We require students to use the technology responsibly, and ethically to communicate effectively, and we hope to encourage this behavior as they become life-long technologically safe learners.
