THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to Mrs. Revee Dufrene, Mrs. Jackie Smith, and everyone who volunteered, sponsored, or played an important part in helping us get our Panda Palooza together! We cannot wait to celebrate with our panda family tonight.
When students are out due to illness, they can not return to school until they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication. Please help us stop the spread.
Safe Environment Training. With several field trips and the Halloween Bazaar approaching, now is the ideal time to ensure your certification is current. The Safe Environment Training process may take up to two weeks to complete, so we encourage you to begin as soon as possible.
To expedite the process, please remember to complete and submit a background check and online course for each certification period. If you are applying for a Safe Environment certificate for the first time, three references must also be provided in addition to the background check and online course. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all our students.
Reminder: Any kindergarten student still in aftercare from 4:30 to 5:30 will be dismissed from the cafeteria. PK3-PK4 will continue to be dismissed from the PK4 room.
Public schools will be closed on October 10, 13, and 14. There will be no bus transportation on these days. Please make other arrangements for your children.
A final copy of the 3-way conferences, along with important details for the day of the conference, will be sent home on Wednesday, October 15. We look forward to meeting with each of you as your child sets their goals for the year!
SERVICE HOURS OPPORTUNITY: Students who are looking for service hours for the 2nd 9 weeks can sign up for the St. Bernadette Church Family Picnic at this link.

2025-2026 Halloween Bazaar Information:
We are excited to announce that our annual Halloween Bazaar will take place on Friday, October 24. This year, the event will follow a new schedule similar to our pre-COVID times:
PK3–2nd grade will kick off our event with an extra hour of play from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. For safety reasons, these students must have an adult (aunt, uncle, grandparent, parent, etc) in attendance. Students must be checked out from their homeroom prior to attending the bazaar.
3rd–7th grade will then join our littles from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Students may be checked out from their homeroom prior to attending the bazaar.
Once the students are checked out with their homeroom teacher, they are free to go home with an adult at any time.
The Bazaar will end at 2:30 p.m. Students will be able to ride the bus as usual, but there will be no aftercare or art on this day.
All students still in attendance will be dismissed at their regular times.
Halloween Bazaar Costume Contest: Students in grades 1-7 may wear costumes.
All costumes must be of an appropriate length (no shorter than an arm’s length when extended down the side).
No Crocs, sandals, open-toe shoes, or high heels. NO SCARY MASKS, NO FULL FACE PAINT, AND NO HAIR COLORING. Minimal face paint/makeup may be used (for example, glitter on cheeks, black eyeliner to make whiskers, etc.)
Individuals and groups (with everyone present) must go to the cafeteria before school to have their picture taken. Please make plans to arrive at school early enough to do this before the tardy bell.
PreK & K will be allowed to wear festive Halloween attire, but not Halloween costumes. It is too difficult for these students in the bathroom.
The bake off will consist of 3 categories:
Baked Goods- brownies, cookies, cupcakes, etc.
Candy – fudge, chocolate-covered items, pralines, etc.
Cake Decorating – These cakes will be judged on presentation only. They will then be used for the cake walk booth.
Each entry for baked goods and candy will be judged on presentation and taste. All baked goods and candy items submitted will be sold in the Sweet Shop Booth at the bazaar on Friday for $1.00 each. If you would like your child to purchase something from the Sweet Shop at the bazaar, please send them with money in a Ziploc with their name on it. The Bake Off letter and entry form can be found here. Each entry must be individually wrapped so that it can be sold at the Sweet Shop. Please also attach a recipe to your entry for allergy purposes. All items being entered in the bake-off will need to be brought to Herbert Hall on Thursday, October 23rd, by 11:00 AM. If you have any questions, please contact Jenna Parra at 985-856-6228.

The Fall Semester Mass Schedule has been updated. Changes are highlighted in red, and the revised version can be found at this link.
Other news:
The month of October is dedicated to Mary, Queen of the Rosary and the Missions. The Rosary reminds us of Mary’s powerful intercession. When Christians are in danger, or when we are discouraged or struggling to accept God’s will, we can turn to Mary. She prays with us and for us, always bringing our needs to her Son, Jesus.
Mary herself encouraged us to pray the Rosary in her apparitions. At Lourdes, she prayed the Rosary with Saint Bernadette. At Fatima, she urged the three children to pray the Rosary for peace.
As a school family, we are praying one decade of the Rosary each morning during our Morning Prayer. We invite you to do the same at home with your families—perhaps one decade each night.
For a guide on how to pray the Rosary, please visit:
www.usccb.org/prayer-and-worship/devotionals/rosaries/how-to-pray-the-rosary.cfm Let us join together this month in prayer to Our Lady, asking her to draw us closer to her Son.
Thank you, Mrs. Amanda Callais (mother of Jillian Callais - PK4A), for giving our Jesus statue in front of the cafeteria a fresh coat of paint. He is beautiful!
Thank you, Mr. Jansen Callais (Father of Jillian Callais- PK4A), for replacing missing fence boards on our school fence. Thanks for helping keep our students safe!
Thank you to some of our Panda Pops who came to hang our new soccer nets for the goals in the backyard, just in time for soccer tryouts and practice. We appreciate you!
Thank you to the Briganti family (Annabel 2E and Joseph KD) for donating a cookie cake to our faculty and staff! It was delicious!
Congratulations to our I Choose Joy golden ticket winners: Connor Reynolds (7P), Lillian Arceneaux (4W), Hayden Marie (5P), Jon Eric White (2E), Vail LeCompte (2L), and Collins Rhodes (3H).
