Tips for Parents

CLOTHING

-Please mark all clothing and belongings with your child's name: backpacks, lunchboxes, hats, coats, sweatshirts, mittens, boots, rain gear, etc.

-Please send your child in comfortable, washable clothes suitable for paint and play (and rest time).

-Please dress your child in shoes (sneakers) suitable for outdoor play on the playground equipment and in the gym. This is very important for safety!!! NO FLIP FLOPS OR SANDALS may be worn.

-You must pack an extra set of clothes for your child in case of an accident or spill, including underwear and socks. Put them in a plastic bag or large Ziploc bag with your child's name on it. Your child will keep the clothes in his/her backpack at all times. Please remember to change the clothes according to the weather/seasons.

SICKNESS

Notify us if your child has contracted any contagious illness. We reserve the right to send your child home if he/she appears ill. Germs spread easily so please keep your child home if he/she is not feeling well!!!

***IN ORDER FOR YOUR CHILD TO COME TO SCHOOL, HE OR SHE MUST BE FEVER-FREE FOR 24 HOURS WITHOUT MEDICINE...NO EXCEPTIONS! THE SAME APPLIES IF YOUR CHILD HAS VOMITTED.

SHOW AND TELL

Show and Tell will be held each week. Don't forget to check the schedule for your child's show and tell day. Your child will be allowed to present ONE object on his/her assigned day. No guns or weapons, please.

PRE-K: Your child may bring in one object that begins with the letter of the week. Place object in a secret surprise bag and help your child prepare clues to describe to object so the other children can guess.

PRESCHOOL: From October to May, your child will have show and tell each week, either Tuesday or Thursday.

BIRTHDAYS

You may plan to celebrate your child's birthday at school. Birthday napkins, cups, or plates or cups may accompany the treat if you wish. No treat bags please. Instead, we encourage you to send in a birthday book to be read the day of the celebration then donated to our classroom library for the children to enjoy. Let us know if you would like to come in to the classroom to read the story. Weekend or summer birthdays may also be celebrated. Please let the teacher know when you plan to celebrate.

SNACK/LUNCH

Snack will be provided for all children at snack time. For full day students, please pack your child a healthy lunch, with drink and napkin. The children will not be allowed to share or trade lunch items. Please notify us if your child has any food allergies. REMINDER: NO PEANUT BUTTER OR NUTS OF ANY KIND IN SANDWICHES OR SNACKS--WE NEED TO BE PEANUT FREE!!!

If someone other than a parent is picking up your child, you must let us know with a note. If you are going to be late for any reason, please notify the office and they will give us the message.
