On-Going Homework:
Each night, the students will be asked to read and practice math facts for a combination of 15 minutes. For reading, the students are encouraged to vary their reading from silent, to aloud, to being read to, helping with both fluency and comprehension. Each type will assist them in building elements for reading success (predicting, inferring, summarizing, etc.) However, with each type, please have the students practice self monitoring and questioning as they read. They may also use www.getepic.com to read (their class code is ).
For Math, students are encouraged to practice their basic addition and subtraction facts (sums to 20) each night. We hope to have a mastery of these facts before we begin regrouping this year (January). "Practice Math facts nightly" may entail using basic handheld flashcards, or logging onto any computer site such as www.ixl.com (using their QR codes in their BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT FOLDER folder). Please see the LINKS page for other helpful sites as well. Students may be quizzed at anytime on their Math facts.
PARENTS: PLEASE NOTE: ALL SPELLING AND VOCABULARY WORDS WILL ALWAYS BE LISTED ON THE LEARNING LINKS PAGES UNDER FOCUS WALLS.
