Parents,
It was a great week celebrating our amazing Catholic School! I enjoyed seeing many of you
at the open house on Sunday. The white and blue challenge was fun. We enjoyed Career Day
on Tuesday. I loved guessing what each child wants to be when they grow up. Their futures
are bright! Thank you to the volunteers who shared a little about their career with us. We
heard from a State Trooper, Fireman and Scientist. The children loved having lunch with you
at the parent lunch. The magician was a huge hit on Thursday. I have a feeling a few children
will be experimenting with magic tricks at home.
Next week we will be getting ready for the superbowl with some football themed activities,
centers and crafts. We’ll be featuring the letters Y and X in UFLI. Our new high frequency
words are- he and with. We will now start adding 2 new words a week. Reading Wonders is
Unit 5 Week 3- "What kinds of things grow on a farm?". We will be working in our religion books on a retreat on sacraments. We will also celebrate our 100 th day of school next Friday.
We have been counting the days of school each morning. The children are looking forward to
the 100th day! I have many fun things planned to help celebrate. Something new we are
starting this year is our 100 club. Once students show me they are able to count to 100, they
will join our 100 club. They get to sign a poster and get a special treat. We all want to join this
club!
This month we will have a class Valentine's Day celebration. Your child may bring inValentine cards for his/her classmates. We will be making mailboxes to hold Valentine’s Day cards and treats. Please be sure that your child neatly PRINTS names on cards so that they can be easily “mailed”. This is a great way to practice handwriting! We have some time before the cards are due, addressing a few cards each day may make things easier for some students. Aclass list including all student names is attached. We will have a small celebration and
Valentine treats on Valentine's Day. Look for details to come about the party.
Please remember to send in books for February Book-it! We will be reading to friends. We
also appreciated the coins for the coin challenge. We often talk in religion about how we can
help others. The money donated for coin wars goes to a Catholic mission. I am looking
forward to getting back to a regular schedule next week, but Catholic Schools week was full of
fun.
Have a wonderful weekend!
