Opportunities to join the Sailability @ Whitefriars Board of Trustees.
Sailability@Whitefriars [S@W] is seeking applications from people interested on being a Trustee with our local charity.
S@W delivers sailing opportunities to anyone with any sort of physical or learning disability or long-term health or mental health issue. This is a rewarding and fulfilling opportunity to be part of the team guiding the charity. This is also a role with formal responsibilities with eligibility criteria set out by the Charity Commission. Appointments are for three years, in the first instance.
We are a friendly and dynamic group, part of Whitefriars Sailing club, dedicated to enabling and supporting people with disabilities to enjoy sailing as an accessible activity and be part of the wider sailing community.
The Trustees seek to balance general governance responsibilities with a deep understanding of both disability inclusion and the unique aspects of sailing. Training in the role of trustee will be available.
We plan to recruit 3 new Trustees – including a Treasurer, a Secretary and one other. If possible, a focus on two new Trustees being already involved with S@W and one to be more independent, whilst maintaining a diversity balance.
More generally, we are seeking Trustees with backgrounds in:
· Disability advocacy or services
· Legal, financial, administration or HR expertise
· Lived in experience of disability
· Sailing and water sports.
· Working with volunteers.
