Multimedia Designer and Visual Artist
The heart hub proposes an urban installation that was designed as a giant sculpture inspired by a human heart. It encourages people to experience and exercise the practice of heart coherence. By inviting people to sit down and enter into a deeper state of well-being through music that guides the person’s breathing pattern.
The purpose of the heart coherence hub would reflect on breathing during meditation. Furthermore, that brings regularity to the heart rate rhythm, helping with the stress hormones.
The hub is much more than artwork. The results of this practice reflect better control of emotions, managing stress, anxiety symptoms, increased work satisfaction, school performance, and many other aspects of life. Heart coherence practice can become a simple tool for quickly assessing Autogenic meditative states, easily achievable daily.
First Objective of this project was to create a 3d Printed prototype of an urban sculpture related to Heart Coherence meditation. These are the pictures of the final 3D prototype:
I started my creative process by making some hand drawings. The main goal was to come across a design that had nature, human heart, and minimalist appeal.
After a few hand drawings I decided to explore with play dough, clay, wires and paper.
Once I felt I knew a bit more in how to get to the design, I started working on Rhino 3D software. I really enjoyed this design so I worked a big more on it until I got to the perfect design.
Some more iterations for the Heart Hub. I wanted to make sure it was a safe space for the practice, with a good design, that looked abstract but also like a heart.
Above is the final shape for the Hub, With help of Bryan Jones, another collaborator of the project. We were able to render 3D images close to reality. We also developed a movie, which I used added text and an animated logo I developed in After Effects.
To create the actual Heart Hub, first it will be 3D printed in real scale and then made a cast to pour the concrete version.
This is the 3D prototype straight out of the 3D printer. A collaboration with Sam Nelson from NSW technology department.
To create a more realistic prototype I started adding plaster and sanding to have a smooth surface. Finishing with a painting to give the light concrete colour.
I place the sculpture on a Photo frame, added soil and moss to pretend is the grass.
With the help of my 3D lecture Jodi, I placed a 3D woman printed to show the size relation of the hub.
The music of this project was a collaboration with Guy Johnston and is a ambient and space music. To make people feel like traveling through the immensity of the universe, to feel joy, relaxation and peace of mind. A music that can bring the person to the present moment, to their hearts. It has a rhythm that will guide the breathing patterns of the person so the coherence state can be achievable. An synthesised based ambient music. Simple, symmetrical, and easy to understand.
The Visual communication for this project aim to transmit connection, flow and harmony. Whilst communicating with all genders. With a contemporary expression of energy and rhythm.
By using the main line of the sculpture and a minimalist typography, I created a logo that embraces the whole concept of the Hub. Flow, heart and art. The grey/sand colour simbolizes the material: Concrete.
With a Fuji Film X100V, I took some photos of trees with extreme exposure.
Bringing the user to a light atmosphere and connection to nature.
Some logo studies for the sculpture.
The aim for the website is to connect people to the Heart Hub community. It's also through the website where the person can register to play the installation music. Like that we are able to have an e-mail contact and also feedbacks from the experience.
By having this online community we are aiming to connect people with each other and also with business that can help with mental health.
My team members were easy-going and capable enough to function in accommodating contexts where goals were reached through collaboration and interconnectedness in group rather than via individualised, contending objectives. A variety of characteristics that are essential for successful, cooperation have been the key to my project. Successful team were highly motivated, engaged, and aspired to produce the best results possible. I established skills needed for effective teamwork and it has become an integral aspect of the multimedia project outputs.
The good development of my project, which resulted in an amazing and creative design, show a usage of the technology, and has been a key element in the rise of a multimedia project. I practice my knowledge as an artists in several aspects, through drawing, 3d models, sculpture, digital illustration using illustrator and photoshop, video using 3D animation in Sketch up and After Effects. My team was responsible for overseeing the design and and giving feedbacks for the projects from conception to completion, including advising, design, video production, and post-production. Wireframes, visual user interface layouts, and customised campaign online landing pages were also the subject of consulting, design, and development. I devised and implemented a website strategy that enhanced and developed the Heart Hub's brand while also supporting other current communications activities with team and suppliers.
