From our modified inspiration, we formulated a story that fits both the product and the tag-line of Stone and Wood, delivering this story in the proof of concept pitch. Once our concept was green-lit, we used a Gantt chart to keep our progress organised and to keep on schedule throughout the trimester.
Here is our first pre-vis and shot-list. On the road to our final deliverable, we essentially just filmed pre-vis's and then updated the shot-list following feedback from the pre-vis. We repeated this process a few more times, eventually settling on the final shot-list for the shoot:
Pre-vis 2
Pre-vis 3 - intercut with stock footage to accommodate feedback from pre-vis 2 as we weren't able to shoot a whole new pre-vis due to weather
Pre-vis 4 - new footage shot inside due to poor weather mixed with shots from pre-vis 2
Pre-vis 5 - Final pre-vis before actual shoot

This trimester I have started animation within blender. Here is a short reel of some of the animations. :)

As a group, we learnt how to work alongside a larger cast of actors as well as how to shoot out-doors, and particularly about how to handle the dangers of said things.
A large cast of actors allowed for an easier expression of the themes of 'bringing' the people as well as a diverse cast that represents our diverse society. However, and particularly with unpaid projects, it can be difficult organising large amounts of actors and then accommodating for them on set. I felt we were able overcome the adversities of this particular challenge as it was something that could be more controlled. Thanks to the tight organisation allowed via the Gantt chart, which let us know what weeks we would need cast / stand-ins for pre-vis, allowed us to easily organise and manage the large cast for the TVC, giving us ample experience to work with larger casts in future projects.
Filming externally can have great benefits but also comes with very detrimental downsides. While the lighting overall was easy to make look nice when it worked, it meant that it was out of our control for when it would and wouldn't work. On the day of the shoot, the lighting was not as great as desired due to the weather at the time, we would have re-shot some pick ups in the following weeks but weather once again denied us this privilege following two weeks of rain. Similarly, you also have to provide more resources for cast and crew when filming outside, particularly with dangers of sun-stroke and sun-burn on the beach. Ultimately, this was a good learning experience that we can take into any future projects that will require external videography.
