Hi, I’m John and I joined the tech team in 2022 after graduating from a Bachelor of Audio at SAE that same year. My main interest is in post production and since graduating have spent most of my time building my network to gain work within the industry. I have so far shadowed the sound designer for the Bluey show, worked on projects for an online course, done numerous sound replacements, sound design for an online game and sound design for an army equipment video.
I also have a love of music, going to music festivals, seeing live music and being in the studio. I joined the SAE tech team in the hopes of making new connections, accelerating my post-degree studio knowledge and supporting students in all aspects of campus life. I’ve been inspired by all of the talented students that have been walking through the doors each trimester in all disciplines - in particular, hearing their stories and career aspirations.

I began studying Audio in 2007 with SAE, shortly after my studies were completed I was offered a position at SAE Brisbane as a marketing coordinator and eventually I was trained to lecture. I taught audio for 3 years and eventually moved into the position of Technical Officer which is where I have been ever since. I specialise in studio wiring & trouble shooting and general equipment repairs.
I came to SAE in 2007 to study audio, after meeting the staff and seeing the facilities I was sold.

Since graduating SAE in 2022 with a Bachelor in Audio I have gone on to work with artists around Australia, America and New Zealand. Artists such Brisbane based musician and film maker Pika Ocho, Donell Lewis, Trey Bond and Kei Leeza, American idol contestant J.None and New Zealand based rapper Savage.
What sparked my interest in audio engineering was learning how to mix the beats I made. Music has always played a major role in my life and being a part of it was something I could not turn down.
After having a positive experience at SAE I knew I had to be part of a team that provides the same experience for the next generation.

I graduated Griffith Film School in 2020. Since then I have worked as a sound editor and composer for films, Tv, animation and documentaries.
I have worked in both a freelance capacity and at Folklore Sound, a Brisbane based sound post-production company, where I worked on a range of short and long form content as a sound editor. Whilst working at SAE I continue to operate as a freeelance sound editor/ designer primarily working in film and documentary.
I've been a musician all my life, starting with a love for drumming and branching off into music production using software like Ableton and delving into abstract sound design and synthesis. My current obsession is creating dance music influenced by genres such as UKG, Dub and Electro which I also explore through Dj'ing.
