ToughBoards are ...tough.
They are made of tough wood and they are made to be used and abused. You will use your sharpest knives on them and cut them deeply, you will chuck them in the dishwasher, you will use boiling water over them to clean them and you will scrub and sand them. And when they are no good anymore - you will burn them or throw them away. It's fine. That is what they are meant for.
They are simple, effective, cheap and useful. No fancy inlays, no stylish carvings. Just Tough Boards. Designed and made by LJS
Mostly, they are Australian Merbau wood - usually used for decking planking, but treated to remove the oils and be safe and tough.
How to care for your board?
You don't ! Well other than,,,
After dishwashing it is advisable to oil the wood to seal in its own oils and provide a clean surface (any type oil: olive, grape, vegetable)
Depending on use, a good sanding, and then a soaking in boiling water before oiling again will remove those cuts and gouges and bring it back to tough use.
