Wave by OCTA is a new system for riding the bus in Orange County. Wave connects to your student account, and gives Saddleback College students access to any OCTA line for FREE! See below for frequently asked questions, and instructions on how to set up your Wave app today.

What is i'm only taking 1 class? No minimum unit count. As long as you are currently enrolled at Saddleback College, you are good to go.

When do I have to re-new my pass? You will need to re-new your pass each semester (i.e. Spring, Fall). If you are taking classes during the Summer and need access to Wave, your Spring pass will be eligible until the end of the Summer semester.

What if I don't have a smartphone? Physical Wave cards are available in the Student Life Office located in the College Center (CC) building, Room 211. Your first card is free, but additional cards will incur a fee of $3 each.

CREATE YOUR ACCOUNT

Download the Wave by OCTA app from the App Store or Google Play.
Register a new account using your Saddleback College email address. (i.e. jsmith@saddleback.edu).
Complete the account security questions.
In order to properly link your free pass, you must use your official Saddleback College email address.

Open your Saddleback College email via the Outlook App on the Saddleback College website.
Look for the verification email. It will come from OCTA. Open the email, and click activate.
Once re-directed to the web, click activate again.
LOGIN TO THE WAVE APP

Return to the Wave app on your phone and login with your Saddleback College email address and newly created password.
Click Create Virtual Card and nickname this anything you'd like!

Tell Wave you're a Saddleback student, and link your student pass.
Select Card Options.
Tap Institutions.
Tap Link Institution.
Search for Saddleback or scroll down.
Select Saddleback College Fall: Full Time or Part Time
(12+ units) (>11 units)
Tap Link Institution.
ADD YOUR FREE BUS PASS

Go back to the main home screen on your Wave app.
Tap Card Options.
Tap Passes.
Tap Add Pass.
Select the Saddleback College Fall Part/Full Time pass.
Tap Order Now.
CONFIRM & RIDE

Make sure your pass is ACTIVE and get ready to ride!
Tap Card Options.
Tap Passes.
Tap the large button at the bottom-center of the app to pull up your QR code.
Scan your QR code and ride!
To ensure you are using the correct, free pass, review the nickname you created in step 3 when you pull up the pass to scan.
